A foam replacement is necessary on most of the old cameras. Even the minty ones.
The foam degrade over time and it can result on damages mecanisms and leaks of light on the film if they are not replaced.


In some models (The older ones), you will find cotton rope instead of foam pads. The foam pads are used later in the production because they are more effective than coton.
From experience, we suggest you to upgrade everything with foam.
